A fluorescent replacement project is not defined by tube length alone. The existing fitting, lamp holder, wiring arrangement, ballast condition, mounting method and operating environment all affect the appropriate replacement route.
Some projects retain the existing fitting and use an LED tube. Others are better suited to replacing the complete fixture with an integrated LED linear fixture. A tri-proof fixture should be treated as a separate construction choice, not as a generic substitute for every fluorescent fitting.
